Workshops & Tuition

Page Under Construction

I will be offering a number of workshops and tutored sessions.

Photographing Landscapes

In this workshop, which can be offered one-to-one or as a small group session, we will look at how to take better landscape photographs. We will look at some aspects of what makes a ‘good’ landscape image and how to use your camera to get the best results.

Introduction to Editing Landscape Images

In this workshop, which can be offered one-to-one or as a small group session, we will look at how you can use Adobe’s Lightroom and/or Photoshop to improve your images. This session is aimed at those who are new to using Lightroom and Photoshop, or anyone wanting to gain a better understanding of how to use them.

Cyanotype Workshop

Cyanotype printed on watercolour paper using a digital negative

This is a fun session. Cyanotype is an old photographic process that was in use before film was used to make photographs. It was first used around 1840. It is a simple process and you only need plain water to develop your images.

We will make photograms using objects brought by attendees, such as leaves, flowers, ferns, or anything that can be laid on a sheet of paper and is not thick.

There will be a demonstration of other ways of making cyanotype images and how you can make your own cyanotype paper using easily available materials.

Gum Bichromate Workshop

This is another alternative photographic process. This day workshop will look at how to make a digital negative and how you can use that to make a gum bichromate print.

Gum bichromate is way of making prints that was popular in the late 19th century and through into the 20th. It is possible to make full-colour prints using gum bichromate, but this workshop will look at monochrome printing.
